Holiday Rewind...Christmas Eve

Yesterday I told you about my visit with the spunky Southern Fried Pugs, well things are just getting started in my Holiday Rewind!  So that brings me to Christmas Eve, and a full day of being with Gammy and Gampy!  Mom wishes we had taken a family picture like at Thanksgiving, but she totally forgot.  It's a tradition in my family to have the big holiday meal on this day, and boy was it an incredible meal.  Usually it's lasagne since mom and Gammy are Italian, but this year we had PRIME RIB, bone-in prime rib!  I wish I could capture and bottle the smells that were emitted from the oven.  Heaven, pure heaven.  And that's not even the best part!  Rather than tell you, I think I'll show you.

Since technically the rib bone is grain free and poultry free, mom and dad decided to give me an early Christmas present.  That was the first sample, and as you can see, I won that round handily.  Here's take 2.

Even though I wasn't able to snag a chunk the second time, it was as awesome as you can imagine!

In the evening, after dark, we hoped in Gampy's car for a drive around town to check out all of the lights and decorations.  There was a lot of pretty houses, but this caught dad's eye and he dad to take a picture.

It's the abominable snow man and Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer from the old cartoon!  We missed it on TV this year, but I've watched it with my 'rents in years past.  It would be better with a pug in it...just sayin'.  Oh, and just so you know, it wasn't snowing, dad just played with some photo app on his iPhone.  Yes, I'm still having issues with attention because of those things!  Anyway, when we got home, my peeps let me open a present early.  It was from my friend Tweedles.  I love presents, so I had been sniffing that package for a while.  And you won't believe what she sent me...a piece of her forest!

It smelled so piney and lovely.  Since we have an artificial tree, we tucked it in the Christmas tree at a low level so I could continue to savor the thoughtfulness of my friend.  And then I sniffed out another gift in the package.  I opened it furiously, so excited to see what it was.

Isn't that just the cutest little yellow giraffe?  I went to town on it for the rest of the night.  Thanks so much Tweedles.

Soon it was time for Gammy and Gampy to go home.  We all needed to go to bed and rest up for Christmas morning!  I started to get some early shut eye in the living room.  Turn up your volume to hear me dreaming!

Sorry for the creepy eye and face twitches at the end!  Mom said I must have been dreaming about something called sugar plums, and while that sounds eatable and so quite possible, I am sure that I was either dreaming about the prime rib or opening more presents the next day.  I bet it was presents.  I'm a present shark, always circling the tree and even climbing on the presents to check them out, but I was too quick this year for any good pictures.  So there's no evidence that it was me that ruined the bow and Gampy's big box...nope, not me.  Thanks to my awesome friends, I got to open even more than normal this year.  Here's some pictures of me opening and playing with a great gift from Salinger!  My mom was going to make me wait (the nerve!), but I actually got to open this one up a handful of days before Christmas, thanks Aunt Laura!

It was a great gingerbread man toy!  Right away I tore off his bow tie!  Hehee!  Thanks Salinger!  We also got a pug ornament, cute pug sign, and pug towel and pot holder set (for mom to use when she makes me lots of treats!) from Salinger and his peeps.  They are so nice.  I also can't forget another special Indy friend that sent me a package...Hank!  Sweet Hanklin sent me a sweet treat, but I will show you pictures of that later!

Ok, I need to stop here.  Christmas tomorrow, stay tuned!

Love,
Payton

Inspirational things...

A couple weeks ago, my friend, Tweedles, sent me an email asking if I would accept the Inspiration Award.

I can’t tell you all how honored I was that she thought of me!  I think that Tweedles is one of the MOST inspirational pugs I know.  I always hope to catch her writings before I go to bed because they make me feel like I’ve just been tucked into the covers and kissed good night.  Her poems are beautiful and magical.  They are so vivid that we are all transported on her adventures.  So thank you, Tweedles, for this award and for being you.

There are no rules that accompany this award, and that seems rather appropriate.  There is no way that I could narrow down my reading list to only a handful of new recipients.  So I think that the most fitting thing to do is to express how each of you inspires me, what makes you unique, and why I love your blog so much!  This post would be a million lines long if I drafted everything here, so I created a separate page that you can view.  I tried to list everyone that has posted in the last month, but if I left anyone out, please forgive me…it was not intentional.

The biggest inspiration to me (aside from all of the cuteness) it that everyone has welcomed me into this blogging community…no, I mean family...with open arms!  My wish is that each of you get inspired each day and live life to the fullest!

Love,
Payton

PS.  Christy here again.  I just want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all your kind thoughts, well wishes, and prayers.  I am overjoyed to report that Payton has not had a seizure since her 3-peat on Sunday!  YEAH!!
