Can I have...

Payton says:  Mom, can I have a treat?  Can I have a new toy?  Can I have a cookie?  Can I have some mango?  Or blueberries?

Mom, PLEASE?
Mom says:  Payton, no.  No.  No.  No.  No.

Pppllllbbbtt!
Can you all believe that?  I mean seriously, it's been like 5 minutes since I've eaten anything and an entire day since I've played with a new toy.  I sure hope you guys have a much better start to your New Year's weekend.

Love,
Payton

Deep Thoughts...vacuums

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!  Around the holidays, my mom is always cleaning more than usual, which made me think about the nasty sucking machine called the vacuum.  I for one hate them.  Do you chase it, bark at it, and bite it, or do you run away?  I follow it around and then when it gets close, I run.  So why do many of us feel threatened by them?  Here are my theories.
  • It's OUR job to pick up crumbs
  • Our peeps should focus on US, not cleaning, which leads me to...
  • There's NO reason to clean up the mess and stink we try so hard to create
So what are your vacuuming pet peeves?

Love,
Payton

PS.  I'm set for some awesome adventures, starting TODAY all the way until New Years Day!  I'll be sure to tell you all about them next week, in addition to some great Christmas fun, as soon as mom has a chance to get the photos together...and relax from all her hard work hosting over the holidays.

Christmas is here!

Merry Christmas!

I pray that you have a wonderful day with friends and family and you take some time to remember the true meaning of the holiday.

Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Love,
Tim, Christy, and Payton

PS.  This time of year is just so busy that we are putting the blog on auto-pilot...a few scheduled posts to get us to the New Year.  And you may have noticed that we are late commenting...that will likely continue over the next week or so.  But don't worry, we'll have tons of exciting news, adventures, and special visits to share first thing in the New Year!

PPS.  Thanks to everyone that sent us a card!  Payton is loving getting lots of mail!  We'll have to post a picture of all her cards later.

PPPS.  I hope everyone already got my card in the mail in time for Christmas!  If not, here's how it turned out.

Posing on the couch

Always the optimist, I pose in hopes of a nibble or two from mom's lunch.

But I tell you, it's hard work!  I'm pooped!  I better rest up for Christmas...it's almost here!

Love,
Payton

PS.  I had a very exciting evening yesterday that I am anxious to tell you about.  BUT Mom is just too busy with last minute Christmas business that she said my post will have to wait.  Sheesh!

How to command your toys...a tutorial.

Since Christmas is nearing (just a week away!) and hopefully we'll all be getting a few new toys to play with, I thought I should take the time to go over my strategy for maintaining rule over the stuffies.  I hope this helps you preserve order in your house.

Rule #1:
Kill the squeakers.  Show them who's boss.  After all, you don't want any insubordinate talk back, do you?  Turn up the speakers and enjoy the silence in these two videos...and my growling and snorting!

Be sure to check all appendages like I did with the giraffe, and also make sure that even old and beloved toys like my squirrelly are checked daily.

Rule #2:
Keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer.

You may remember that this is the pink ballerina flamingo that friend Suki got me.  She is a tough cookie.  For homework, you can study my moves from one of my many matches with it (it's the second half of the first video in my "Too tired to play with the toys from Suki?" post).  And here's a recent pic of a battle just after the Christmas tree was decorated to get you inspired.  You can't let these toys give you lip!

Rule #3:
Start collecting.  Why shouldn't we have every variation of the toys we like?  We deserve it!

Skinneez from left to right: moose, raccoon, fox, rabbit, squirrel, and hedgehog
Cuz from left to right: regular, giant, bad, other, holey, and dino
Mom promises more skinneez for Christmas!  Yay!

Rule #4:
Don't be afraid to pick a favorite.  You never know when you'll need it in a crunch.

Rule #5:
For those stubborn learners, never give up the fight...even when sleeping.

Yep, you guested it, that dastardly pink ballerina flamingo needs my constant attention!

Rule #6:
Send them to the medic for repair, so they can return to the battle another day.

See the stitches on this one?  I'm not sure how many times Gammy sewed it for me, but it's hanging in there!

Rule #7:
But know when they are beyond fixing, and let the weak ones go.

I know it's hard, but we must be strong when your peeps take one to the trash can.  Just remember to be respectful and bow your head saying a little prayer.

Rule #8:
Take inventory every so often.  Sort out the winners from the losers.

Rule #9:
Then make cuts accordingly.  Do it in front of the others to set fear.

Rule #10:
In hopes of world domination, expand your kingdom when you can.  Word will get around, and your reputation will grow.

These are my stuffies at Gammy and Gampy's house.  I'm on the look out for a third location...

Oh, and just remember, don't be soft on the holiday toys either.  They knew what they were getting themselves into...

Well, I hope this was informative and helpful.  If you have any additional tips of the trade, please leave them in the comment section for others.  "Pug"lic service announcement out!

Love,
Payton

Flashback Friday...Christmas time

Christmas is by far my favorite time of year.  Food, presents, toys, food, opening presents, food, wrapping paper, cookies, food, and, of course, family!  Here's some of my favorite pictures from past Christmases.

Hope you and your families aren't getting too wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the season and are able to enjoy each other as Christmas approaches.  I can't wait to see what's under the tree for me this year!  Mom hopes I don't try to unwrap all the gifts again this year...we'll see...  Have a great weekend!

Payton

Breakfast in bed

Ok, not really.  I eat breakfast at 5:30.  My dad feeds me before he gets ready for work, then I join mom back in bed.  I don't pay attention to what time she gets up because I'd sleep until lunch if she'd let me.  But at 9:30 every morning, my mom brings me one of my pills dipped in peanut butter.  I am usually sound asleep, sometimes snoring a bit...

...until my nose catches a whiff of the nutty goodness.  Most of the time my head is on the pillow, but I guess today I wanted to prop up my feet...on mom's pillow, of course!  Heehee!

I hope everyone has a great, lazy day!!

Love,
Payton

Flashback Friday...making Christmas cookies

Every year, for Christmas only, my mom and Gammy make iced sugar cookies.  Butter is one of my favorite foods (too bad I never get to have it unless I steal it), and the smell of it fills the air as the cookies bake in the oven.  Here's a few pictures of me helping them roll out the dough at Gammy's house from 2006.

Gammy is a good teacher, she taught mom and me how to make them super tasty!  After they cool, we all get together that night and have dinner and then spend the evening icing the cookies.  Gampy always breaks some so he can have an early treat.  Next Friday I'll show you a picture of me stalking the cookies while the icing is drying.  I may not be able to see or hear very well, but the nose has not failed me yet!

Have a fun weekend!  I know I'll be thinking about making these cookies again this year!

Love,
Payton
