Flashback Friday...making Christmas cookies

Every year, for Christmas only, my mom and Gammy make iced sugar cookies.  Butter is one of my favorite foods (too bad I never get to have it unless I steal it), and the smell of it fills the air as the cookies bake in the oven.  Here's a few pictures of me helping them roll out the dough at Gammy's house from 2006.

Gammy is a good teacher, she taught mom and me how to make them super tasty!  After they cool, we all get together that night and have dinner and then spend the evening icing the cookies.  Gampy always breaks some so he can have an early treat.  Next Friday I'll show you a picture of me stalking the cookies while the icing is drying.  I may not be able to see or hear very well, but the nose has not failed me yet!

Have a fun weekend!  I know I'll be thinking about making these cookies again this year!

Love,
Payton

What fun! Payton you had the cutest face back in 2006 and you are still the cutest!
Family traditions are such a part of Christmas! We might not bake and decorate cookies this year. Everyone here, who bakes and decorates, is on a diet because of the wedding! Mack and I never got to be that close to the cookie making but we always hung out under foot for what dropped!
We can't wait to see the pictures from this year!

Loves and hugs,
Minnie and Mack (XOXOXO)

Oh Payton, what a helper you are !!! it looks like without you your mom and Gammy couldn't bake them so well ;) We've never tasted ics sugar cookies, but since our mom thinks she loves Christmas again, she decided to bake some gingerbread cookis which are very popular here in Poland, especially at Christmas time. So we hope to score some ! She ever bought new cutters and said we will bake them on the weekend ! We will hopefuly write about it on our new blog :) have a great weekend Payton, lots of kisses are flying your way :) Fredzio+Zuzia+Pucia

Payton you could not be any cuter if you tried! I love that pleading look in those pictures. Mom did some baking last night but she says I am not to be trusted that close to any foodable items and for me not to get any ideas by looking at these pictures. Oh and that butter restriction thing? Here is how I handle that. I wait until Mom gets the butter sliced up into patties, she holds them in her hand while she does this. As she is moving toward wherever she is going to use them I run full blast across the kitchen and headbutt her right at the knee level from behind, almost a guarantee that she is going to drop a couple of them. I grab and run, she isn't fast enough to catch me. This method also works with all manner of hand held foodables.

I tell you what, the nose KNOWS when butter is around and there are foodables to be snarked. Looks like you did an excellent job snoopervising.

Payton, you were doing an amazing job helping your mom and Gammy roll out the dough. It was smart of you to help - I mean the faster the cookies get made, the sooner they get to be eaten, right? Did you ever get to try one of the cookies? I sure hope so, as they sound delish.

Sid

Okay, my friend, I have to confess that you might just even be cuter than ME in these photos. I'll bet those cookies were the best ever.
